NTEP APPROVALS LCCA: COC #94-014 Class III 5,000 division single Class IIIL 10,000 division single These load cells have Certificate of Conformance (COC) numbers furnished by The National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST). NIST uses a National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) to classify load cells into categories such as class III and IIIL. HB44 written by NIST gives detailed specifications which the load cells must comply with to be listed as Class III and IIIL.
Class III is for all commercial weighing unless otherwise specified, and includes grain test scales, retail precious metals and semi-precious gem weighing, animal scales and scales used for laundry charges. Class IIIL is for vehicle, axle-load, livestock, railway track scales, crane and hopper (other than grain hopper) scales.
